Early WW2 All Matching Type 44 Arisaka Cavalry Carbine 6.5 Jap caliber **Koishikawa Arsenal** SOLD
Description:
Nice early production Type 44 Arisaka Cavalry Carbine chambered in 6.5 Jap. The Type 44 was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1911 for use by Cavalry troops. This rifle was produced in Koishikawa, Tokyo Arsenal and features the early short type bayonet housing. The Royal Chrysanthenum is ground but is still visible. The serial number is 22441 with a "S" barrel proof code. This rifle is in excellent original condition with all-matching small parts including the bolt. As noted in the book Military Rifles of Japan by Mr. Honeycutt Jr. & Mr. Anthony, many of these Type 44 Carbines in this particular serial number range were arsenal rebuilt prior to WW2. This rifle is one such rebuild, it has an all-blue finish including the bolt and trigger (normally "in the white" but correct for Japanese arsenal rebuild) and the bayonet housing and extractor have been arsenal re-numbered to match the serial number of the receiver. The stock is in excellent condition overall, with no cracks or repairs and just a few small handling marks typical of a rifle used in combat. The bore has nice strong rifling but is frosted in the grooves. This is a very nice example of one the most interesting and hard to find Imperial Japanese small arms used during WW2, and is a known and documented "variation" that is seldom encountered. PRICE: $750 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974. PH. 859-276-1419 We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives. Have a Individual Firearm, Firearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you. NOTE: No additional Fee for Credit Card Purchases.
