EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II PACIFIC THEATER Koishikawa Type 38 C&R RIFLE
Arisaka SCHOOL RIFLE w/BAYONET & SCABBARD
Description: EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II PACIFIC THEATER Koishikawa Type 38 C&R RIFLE Arisaka SCHOOL RIFLE w/BAYONET & SCABBARD Here we present a C&R Japanese Kokura Type 38 Infantry Rifle, made circa the 1920s-30s at the Koishikawa Arsenal is Tokyo, Japan. The Type 38 rifle and carbine were bolt-action service rifles used by the Empire of Japan predominantly during the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Second World War. The design was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905 (the 38th year of the Meiji period, hence "Type 38"). Because the 6.5x50mmSR Arisaka cartridge it fired was considered underpowered, a replacement was devised, which was the Type 99 rifle, but both rifles saw usage until the end of the war. This rifle was an upgrade to the Type 30. This design was the project of Major Nambu, famed and prolific firearms designer in Japan. The Type 38 has been called the best service rifle of WWII. The design was perfected with the advent of the Type 99, nevertheless, the Type 38 saw plenty of action during World War I and World War II. Some experts speculate that most of the “School Rifles” were an amalgamation of rifles assembled from inferior parts, unless they were used for marksmanship. Most Arisaka rifles with intact Chrysanthimums are battle field pick ups, as they were taken from a soldier either before he was able to or was otherwise incapable of obliterating the mum. Being that the mum has been over stamped I would assume that it was not taken into to battle as it no longer possessed the Spirit of the Emperor, and therefore was not worthy. It was most likely retrieved during the occupation of the home islands. The overall condition is good. Strong action. bright bore. This example sports a solid stock with an average amount of wear. Fully functioning dust cover. Legible markings. Good bayonet. Mixed numbers. The mum is intact, but has been over stamped with stacked cannonballs. School symbol above the Type 38 nomenclature, and "00" marked as a school rifle. Triangle in circle and “S” proof at the breech. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 31.5 inches. Caliber: 6.5x50mm Japanese Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #228040 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
