EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II PACIFIC THEATER Kokura Type 38 C&R Army RIFLE
JAPANESE MILITARY Arisaka INFANTRY RIFLE
Description: EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II PACIFIC THEATER Kokura Type 38 C&R Army RIFLE JAPANESE MILITARY Arisaka INFANTRY RIFLE Here we present a C&R Japanese Kokura Type 38 Arisaka Infantry Rifle, made circa 1937 at the Kokura arsenal. The Type 38 rifle and carbine were bolt-action service rifles used by the Empire of Japan predominantly during the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Second World War. The design was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905 (the 38th year of the Meiji period, hence "Type 38"). Because the 6.5x50mmSR Arisaka cartridge for this rifle was considered underpowered, a replacement was devised, which was the Type 99 rifle, but both rifles saw usage until the end of the war. This rifle was an upgrade to the Type 30. This design was the project of Major Nambu, famed and prolific firearms designer in Japan. The Type 38 has been called the best service rifle of WWII. The design was perfected with the advent of the Type 99, nevertheless, the Type 38 saw plenty of action during World War I and World War II. The Type 38 rifle was produced at five different Japanese arsenals with over 3 million manufactured over the production run between 1906 through 1944. The Tokyo Arsenal produced 2,029,000 between 1906 and 1932. The Kokura Arsenal produced 494,700 between 1933 and 1941. The Nagoya Arsenal produced 312,500 between 1932 and 1942. The Hoten/Mukden Arsenal produced 148,800 between 1937 and 1944. The Jinsen Arsenal produced 13,400 during the year of 1942. The overall condition is good. Strong action.
