Description:
Standard configuration Japanese Nagoya Arsenal 4th block Type 38 rifle chambered in 6.5mm as manufactured from 1905 to 1945. The rifle features a drift adjustable triangular front sight with a ladder type rear. The receiver is marked with a chrysanthemum as a symbol of ownership by the Emperor, this example having been crossed out to save honor. On the left of the receiver there is the block mark followed by the full SN and the Nagoya Arsenal mark. The bolt and the bayonet lug are matched to the last three numbers. Complete with hooked quillion type 30 bayonet marked with a Tokyo/Kokura arsenal stamp and thirty block stamp followed by 33513 sn.
Condition:
Generally good condition with a polished bolt head, the bayonet lug, trigger/floorplate assembly, and buttplate generously cold-blued. Stock has been aggressively sanded, still with numerous darkened oil soaked patches, portions of the wood near the bayonet lug scarred with darkened losses. Dull bore with prominent rifling. Correct manual mechanics. One of the few WWII Japanese military rifles that you can buy with bayonet for under $600!
