Splendid example of an original Japanese World War II Arisaka Type 99 sniper rifle with mirror bore, made by the Nagoya Arsenal, complete with correct scope. Scope case to include lens brush and canvas straps for the smaller 2.5 power scope.
Description:
Japanese military WWII Type 99 Sniper rifle made by Nagoya Arsenal, SN: 9637, cal. 7.7x58, produced 1939-1945, fitted with correct 4x telescopic sight and original accessories. 26" barrel, staked, drift adjustable front sight with protective ears, and battle/ladder rear sight graduated 3-15 missing anti-aircraft ears. Receiver bridge marked with imperial chrysanthemum marred with single strike, Japanese characters referencing model and arsenal, SN: "9637" across rear bridge. Matching bolt and associated components "637". Stock with matching bayonet lug "637", cleaning rod present, smooth unmarked buttplate. Scope "No. 10741", flexible reproduction sunshade, crisp range finding reticle with a few flecks of internal debris, integral base serialed "4763". Complete with an original Khaki colored scope case for the smaller 2.5 power scope with wooden handle/lens cleaning brush, leather buckle strap, and adjustable khaki-canvas sling.
Condition:
VG+ original finish Type 99 Arisaka type 99 sniper rifle with thinning blue over roughly forged/machined parts as typical for a later-war assembled rifle. Original finish stock with handling marks, shallow dents and stained blemishes as carefully photographed. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. Near EXC Original finish scope with bright, crisp optics, minor internal debris, and comparable condition but reproduction sunshade. Case and straps in the same exemplary condition as the scope, a very tight fit when trying to insert scope, as case is for the smaller 2.5 power scope. A wonderful Type 99 Sniper rifle ensemble!
