WW2 Japanese Type 99 Late-Production Rifle Excellent Last Ditch Weapon
Description:
Serial #(Series
27) 5787, 7.7mm Arisaka, 26" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is a Tokyo Juki Kogyo marked rifle with fixed rear sight and scrubbed ‘mum, with mixed matching numbers on the bolt and sliding dust cover.
The metal has retained about 85-90% original blue which blends with a mellow plum-brown patina on the balance.
Some further silvering and gray fading is present, mainly on the sides of the nosecap, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt.
The stock and handguard are in fine shape with scattered light-moderate handling marks and surface blemishes throughout the original varnish finish and moderate wear around the edges of the nailed wooden buttplate.
This rifle was never equipped with front sight protectors nor did it have any provision for a cleaning rod.
This is a fine-near excellent example of a desirable Type 99 “Last Ditch" variant, and would make a splendid addition to any WW2 collection.
