"WWII Japanese Toyo Kogyo Series 30 Type 99 Bolt Action Rifle 7.7x58mm (L2026-06987)
Description:
"Serial no. 3265. Manufactured mid to late 1941 by Toyo Kogyo, chambered in 7.7x58mm,26"" round barrel. The bore is very good with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are non-matching. The imperial chrysanthemum (“mum") has been ground from the receiver; a practice commonly performed during surrender or in some cases to prevent the rifle from falling intact into enemy hands. The early-pattern stock shows expected handling and usage marks consistent with wartime service. The original monopod has been removed, though the anti-aircraft rear sight wings remain intact. Early Toyo Kogyo Type 99 rifles are well regarded for their quality of manufacture and distinctive early-war features, including anti-aircraft sights and monopods, before wartime expediency measures simplified production. These rifles saw extensive service throughout the Pacific Theater during WWII. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
