This Arisaka is in good shape. It was manufactured by the Nagoya factory prior to adoption of the 7.7mm Japanese cartridge. The 6.5mm is similar in ballistics to the 6.5MM Swede, Mannlicher, etc. This makes the cartridge useful for most mid-size big game. The Type 38 is strong enough to allow use of maximum loads. The Arisaka rifles, while somewhat crude in execution, were considered some of the best military rifles. They are simple in operation, and easy to maintain. The floor plate is removable on this one, making unloading simple. 6.5x50mm
