Description: Arisaka Type 99 rifle chambered in 7.7mm Japanese. *SOLD*This rifle was manufactured sometime between 1929 and 1935 at the Koishikawa (Kokura) Arsenal. The rifle features the concentric circles stamp where the mum would normally be, signifying that this means, to quote reputable sources, "A small quantity of Type 30 - Type 99 rifles have been encountered that have, in place of the royal chrysanthemum, two circles, one inside of the other. The two circle insignia indicates government ownership and would have been put of rifles not intended for distribution to the military". Some reputable sources say these concentric circle marked rifles may have also been issued to the Japanese Secret Police during WWII. This particular rifle is in good condition, minor wear considering its age, the stock is slightly separated where the stock piece was glued, but it is stable. A "38" was painted on the stock at some point. The only missing part is its monopod attachment. Some non-matching parts are present. The bore and bolt face may have been professionally polished at some point, as they are in excellent condition. This in a very early example three digit serial (serial no. 6XX) on the concentric circle marked Type 99. Please refer to the photos to further assess the condition of the rifle. This in an incredible rarity and belongs in your Japanese Arms or WWII Arms collection!
