Attractive and matching Arisaka Type 99 Japanese military rifle from WWII with intact chrysanthemum, monopod, and a mirror bore, complete with an early Type 30 bayonet/scabbard. A classic Japanese military rifle known for its reliability and use in the Pacific Theater.
Description:
Standard configuration WWII production Japanese Type 99 military rifle with intact chrysanthemum, dustcover, monopod, and early Type 30 bayonet/scabbard. The left side of receiver is stamped with the symbol for the Toyo Kogyo Arsenal followed by the serial number “223” that is repeated on the bayonet lug and the bolt assembly with a matching extractor and safety, firing pin unmarked. Dust cover SN: 100. It has the standard front and rear sights, this example missing the anti-aircraft wings. Hardwood stock with finger grooves on the sides and handguard with unnumbered barrel band. Fitted with a cupped sheet metal buttplate and wire monopod. Complete with Type 30 bayonet SN:68974 with hooked quillion and in the white blade made by Jinsen Arsenal in Korea.
Condition:
Near EXC original salt blue on barrel, receiver, sight, bolt, trigger guard, floorplate and most of the small fittings to include the monopod sling swivels. Dust cover has been polished and liberally touched up with cold blue. Rear sight missing anti-aircraft wings. Two of the trigger guard screws are replacements. Buttplate with moderate oxidation. Handguard and stock have been sanded, stained, and refinished. Mirror Bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. VG+ bayonet with an excellent unpolished blade.
