Reallky nice looking Arisaka
Description: This offering is a rather rare combat rifle built in the period when some parts of the type 99 kad been found to be superflous. This is NOT a "last ditch " rifle but it has factory modifications. For instance the stock does not have drainage holes; the bipod is missing but it was neve there. Thy had stopped putting the, on although the stock band still allowed for installation. The sight ia a type A--no aircraft lead wings. The fore end piece has a hole for a cleaning rod but the stock dpes not nor does it have anywhere to put it. The front sight doesn't have wings. This is however a very well finished rifle and the machined parts are very well finished as they were in earlier rifles. I have not sighterd it in and since I have achieved the age of 84 my eyes havr betrayed me and I connot see the front sight most of the time. This is by far, the strongest action ever put in a regular military rifle. Before the Koprean War the Army had a huge collection of these rifles and they wanted to give thm to the South Koreans but they didn't trust them (Too many GIs had tried to fire real ammo through practice riflers and had , of course blown them up, hence the terrible reputtation.) The Army pressure tested them against the Mauser 98, the 03 Springfield, the Enfield Nark IV, the Moisin, etc. They managed to bloe them all up---except the Arisaka. It took a gunsmith some years later to do something like that. He blew the barrel off---but couldn't blow the action up. I load my own 7.7 mm ammo and I tend to load a luttle bit heavy. I have gotten extremely good results throigh the Japanese chrome barrels. Normally the Japanese military load gives almost exactly the resultsof the British .303 and very close to the .308. This is a nice rifle . Take it out and shoot it. It doesn't deserve to be just looked at. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: 7.7x58mm Arisaka, 7.92x33mm Kurz |
