Description: “BAVARIAN FORESTRY POLICE” M1 by SAGINAW .30 Carbine Caliber WW2 c1943 mfr. World War II US Light Carbine Here we present a WWII Saginaw U.S. M1 Carbine with Post-War Bavarian Forestry Police Property Marking, manufactured circa 1943 by the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The M1 Carbine was made to be an effective and cost-effective arm for troops during the Second World War. After the war, many of these were sold or issued to foreign troops like this one. This one went to the Bavarian Forestry Police, a rural police force on the allied side used to control the vast forested region of Bavaria in the period just after the war. Both the barrel and receiver are Saginaw marked. “BAVARIA FORESTRY POLICE” is marked on the receiver. “P” is marked on the grip. “AAF” is on the left wrist. Flaming bomb and an inventory number in the sling well. Canvas sling and oiler. The overall condition is very good. Strong, tight action. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. Solid stock with less than average wear. This one does not come with a magazine. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 18 inches.
