"National Postal Meter M1 Carbine with Post-War Alterations .30 Carbine (L2026-06702)
Description:
"Serial no. 4348799. Manufactured in 1944 by National Postal Meter Company, chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “UNDERWOOD/1-44/Flaming Bomb." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The carbine has been upgraded with post-war features including a Type III barrel band and rotary safety. The Type II adjustable rear sight bears a faint “H" inside a shield marking. The low wood stock retains a handsome ordnance crossed cannons cartouche along with a circle “P" proof mark. National Postal Meter carbines are popular among collectors due to their comparatively limited wartime production and use of subcontracted components such as Underwood barrels. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
