Description: 1943 WORLD WAR II SAGINAW M1 Carbine .30 WW2 Korea Michigan GM Scope 4x US SAGINAW STEERING GEAR DIVISION of GENERAL MOTORS Here we present a Saginaw U.S. M1 Carbine, manufactured in 1943 by the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan. This .30 caliber semi-automatic rifle was first used by the United States Armed Forces on October 22, 1941. There was a total of 6,110,730 carbines made of all types during the war. Saginaw carbines were produced at two different locations between 1943 and 1944 with identification codes determining the location. A total of 223,620 carbines were produced at this location, making the grand total of Saginaw carbines manufactured at 517,212, which was about 8.5 % (293,592 or 4.8% in Saginaw and 223,620 or 3.7% made in Grand Rapids). The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. The bore is bright and nicely rifled. Solid stock overall. This example does not include a magazine. The Weaver Marksman scope offers a nice and clear sight picture with a fine duplex reticle at a fixed 4x. The scope base is easily removed if desired.
