Description: Fine Vintage WWII Classic Winchester M1 Carbine Holiday Special NO RESERVENO Offered here for sale is a fine WWII vintage CLASSIC Winchester U.S. M1 carbine. There were numerous contracts during the war for the Model m1 yet among them the Winchester name stands out as far as desirability is concerned. This specimen, serial number 5574686 is found in ordnance records to be in the 3rd block of Winchester contract serial numbers for carbines made between February to November 1944. The metal on this specimen retains the large majority of WWII parkerized finish. The top of the bolt cover has an off color bluish finish and may have been an arsenal replacement. The markings are very sharp and clear. NO IMPORT MARKS. The stock is in solid condition however it appears that it may have been lightly sanded and cleaned. In looking at the buttstock right sight it first appeared that it was unmarked but with close inspection a very light “GH or GHD” is visible stamped on that side. That would be a proper marking for a Winchester stock. The action is very good. The bore is excellent. 18-1/2” barrel. Folding rear sight. NOTE: Images do not show a magazine but we will supply same depending upon the winning ’s restrictions as to capacity of magazine (i.e. here is Connecticut standard 5 round would be supplied.
