Inland ~ M1 U.S. Carbine ~ .30 Carbine
Description: This 12-43 World War II semi-auto rifle is an Inland M1 U.S. Carbine chambered in .30 Carbine. It has a fixed front sight with protective sides, an adjustable aperture rear sight, a checkered steel butt plate, a bayonet lug, and a sling loop at the top. It is in generally very good condition metal and furniture, showing what appears to be a factory repair to the right side of the bottom portion of the fore arm wood. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling intact. It comes with a single 15 round magazine. This .30 caliber semi-automatic rifle was first used by the United States Armed Forces on October 22, 1941 and the Inland Division of General Motors was the first of 10 manufacturers to produce this firearm. Despite having a similar name and appearance, the M1 Carbine is not a carbine version of the M1 Garand rifle. They are different firearms and use different ammunition. Prior to World War II, U.S. Army Ordnance received many reports that the full-size M1 Garand was too heavy and cumbersome for most support troops, such as mortarmen and radiomen to carry, so the M1 U.S. Carbine was designed to fulfill the request for a compact, lightweight defensive weapon with greater range, accuracy and firepower than handguns. The U.S. Army decided that carbine would adequately fulfill these requirements. .30 Carbine SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Metal Condition: Very good condition Wood Condition: Right side of forearm has what appears to be a factory repair to the lower fore arm Bore Condition: Very good condition with strong rifling Barrels: 18" barrel with bayonet lug Stock Dimensions: 35¾" overall length Butt Pad: Checkered steel butt plate Weight: 5 LB 6 OZ Sights: "Fixed front sight with side protectors, adjustable rear peep sight Item Location: Wichita, KS |
