This Inland Model U.S. Carbine M1 "-U- Code" is a right-hand semi-auto U.S. Military rifle in .30 Carbine. This rifle has an Inland receiver that was transferred to Underwood for assembly. Ordnance required the name of the prime contractor to be defaced by a single narrow horizontal line. The identification mark of the receiving facility was to be added in the area of the serial number. It has an 18-inch barrel. A blade front sight with protective sides and a flip aperture rear sight. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip. The forearm is a smooth grip two-piece hardwood. Serial Number 499600. The barrel is stamped "INLAND MFG. DIV GENERAL MOTORS 3-43". This WWII Era lightweight short, barreled battle rifle was issued to paratroops, equipment drivers and officers in battle theaters around the globe. Includes 1 Magazine. .30 Carbine
