M1 Carbine I.B.M. with Oval High Wood Stock price reduced : was $2,999 now just $2,795
Description: Every part of this rifle is the correct to I.B.M. M1 Carbine serial number 3947055 as it was specified by the arsenal and was put into service. The over 6 million M1 Carbines were manufactured by eleven contract companies. No one company produced all of the Carbine parts for their rifles. Every manufacturer followed the exacting specifications for all parts and were cross supplied to all manufacturers. This is where the book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine" comes into the picture. Roger Larson, with the help of many other people, has published this book to help buyers, sellers, collectors, dealers, or aficionados know how each production block of the M1 Carbine was assembled and what parts were used. With 829 pages and over 4,000 high quality photos of the M1 Carbine parts it pretty much validates what production block of M1 Carbine had which parts specific to manufacturer, serial number, date, production block, and part type. Some parts had up to 6 different types of the same part throughout their production life. I use this book as my guide to returning the M1 Carbines I collect and/or sell to the same authoritative source of such information. My I.B.M. Carbine has all of the correct parts and it is in excellent mechanical, cosmetic, and functional condition. It was produced in the last group of I.B.M.s produced for WWII, so I referenced example "D" in the Carbine Book for authenticating the parts. Like all manufacturers the type number of specfic parts could vary based on remaining inventory levels. My rifle has very desireable features, especially for the serious collector. The stock is an oval cut oiler slot high wood with a two rivet hand guard. This stock is identified in the sling well by BR-B stamping and the color matching hand guard is stamped JLB on the bottom edge. The correct I.B.M. Cross Canon Cartouche is stamped in the right butt stock. Notice in the picture the dark cut above the oiler slot. It is not a crack but a clean cut about 1/32" deep. Perhaps a slice from an enemies bayonet ? Great character mark. Although this is one of the later produced I.B.M.s I chose to option it with the Type 1 dual aperture Rear Sight stamped IN-B and the Type 2 Original Barrel Band with four weld scars on top. This barrel band is an often boot legged part because the original replacement sells for over $300 if you can find one. There was never a Type 3 bayonet lug Barrel Band on this rifle. The barrel is the lighter colored finely machined rib finish. I.B.M. made one of the best barrels of all and it was used by six other manufacturers. The Bolt is the flat topped blued finish Type 2 with all I.B.M. internal parts and the Safety is the push Type 3. All other stamped parts used are identifiable by correct stamping for this serial number. There are no arsenal rebuilt stamps or armorer stamps on the under side of the receiver, which is a good thing. Take a look at the picture of the bore and you will see it has very pronounced riflings and lands. I measured all the springs and checked wear on all the pins to make sure they are within original specs. I will supply 20 pictures for this posting but I have more than 100 on file. If you are a serious buyer I will gladly email as many pictures as you like. Although this rifle is a pristine survivor of WWII I seriously doubt that it saw any serious battle field action; more like guard duty at the PX. I test fired this rifle by firing 30 rounds through it. The last 10 were rapid fire. It did not have any failures to feed or extraction issues. However you look at this rifle; collector grade, investment grade, or a rifle to brag about at the range you can't really go wrong buying it. There is nothing left to do to this Carbine except having fun shooting and bragging about it. Buyer pays actual shipping and optional shipping insurance to a valid FFL of your choice within the contiguous 48 United States or to purchaser with valid C&R license. Sale must comply with all current state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations. The rifle has no expressed or implied warranties. Method of payment will be USPS Money Orders or other approved method. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30 Carbine Manufacturer: I.B.M.
