Rare UN-QUALITY M1 Carbine, Union Switch & Signal , Qualty Hardware, 1943 WWII
Description: This is one of the rarest WW2 era carbine variations - the Un-Quality M1Carbine. A portion of Quality Hardware's contract was sub-contracted to Union Switch & Signal, where receivers were produced and given the name 'Un-quality'. These are only found from serials 4,432,XXX to 4,532,XXX (this one is 4459931). Out of the approximately 6,200,000 Carbines produced for WWII only near 30,000 were UN-Quality marked rifles. This carbine is in excellent survivor condition with a Flaming Bomb marked "43" barrel from Underwood, Winchester trigger group, Flat bolt, nice Underwood marked High wood stock with crossed cannons, M-U on sling cut out, P acceptance stamp on pistol grip butt, 4 rivet top wood, bayonet lug, rear flip sight, correct WWII cotton sling, stock mounted magazine holder with two extra magazines, Underwood was just down the road from Quality Hardware in Chicago area, hence the use of Underwood items when Quality ran out during War production. Overall condition is excellent with all markings crisp and legible on stock and carbine, thinning of wartime finish in areas, discreet import marks bottom of barrel.
