The quality and dependability of the M1, made by Saginaw s.g. 30 Caliber
Description: “Saginaw” part of the General Motors along with “Inland” who probably produced more M1’S than any other builder. Inland probably produced the most “of one company” the 6+ million M1’s. There were 10 companies producing the M1’s. Even a Juke Box builder “Rock Ola” got into the war effort. This M1 has the rear sight covering most of the serial numbers. There is a special tool to remove the sight which I don’t have. However it is safe to say this 30 caliber was made between 1941 and 1945 making it a C&R. Collectors know so much more than I do that I am just giving some of the interesting facts Like facts such as the number of carbine’s produced. GI’s for the most part fell in love with the M1. It always fired, always doing the job intended. Not really a long shooter like the Garand, the M1 held it’s own. With not a bullet the size of the 30-06 but still a dependable 30 cal. This Carbine has a new beautiful wood stock. The rest seems seems to follow normal builds. Looking down the barrel you can see the lands and grooves also signs of being a shooter. The “I” oiler on the butt used for a sling which facilitates the ability for the GI to carry the carbine flat against his back. This is a period piece it has the correct soft case, an easily fixed USM Bayonet with scabbard, 4 New magazines and the original rear sight for adjusting for horizontal and vertical adjustment. The sling is period correct although it is not original to this carbine. I hope the pictures tell more story and I welcome any constructive criticism. I am helping a man who probably carried one of these. From what I heard these carbines are real fun. So get out there and have some fun.
