WW2 2nd Block Saginaw Gear S.G. M1 Carbine 1944 manufactured
Description: WW2 2nd Block S.G. Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors M1 Carbine. A great looking World War 2 M1 Carbine that has mostly correct parts but has most likely been through an arsenal re-work. This example is serial number 5840336 and was made in roughly March of 1944. The stock is Oval Cut, Low Wood. The stock is marked in the sling well with a "RSG". The SG cartouche on the right side is no longer visible. The hand guard is marked "R.S.G." The metal parts show a GI parkerized finish except the blue round bolt with has lost most of its original finish. The round bolt, and slide are of S.G. manufacture. the trigger housing is marked "S.G." but has a mix of parts from various manufacturers. The barrel is a undated Saginaw Gear which is correct. The barrel is bright with sharp rifling. The muzzle gauges at a 2 and the rifle passes headspacing tests. This m1 carbine should make an outstanding shooter. The rifle comes with (1) original (15) round GI magazine marked "U". This rifle does not show an Import mark. S.G. carbines are scarce and this one would be an excellent addition to any M1 Carbine or WW2 collection.
