The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The bolt is marked “D28287-2SA/J8," and the receiver is stamped “REP4D/D28291-14 SA." The operating rod has been cut and is marked “D35382-9 SA," while the trigger guard is correctly Springfield Armory marked. The barrel reflects a later post-war replacement, consistent with arsenal maintenance and continued service use. The stock shows honest handling impressions and retains an “S.A./J.I.C." cartouche along with the ordnance crossed cannons.
