This Springfield Armory M1 Garand is built around receiver serial number 1599770, placing production in January 1943 during the height of World War II. The rifle combines a genuine wartime Springfield receiver with a modern CMP-style rebuild configuration, giving collectors the historic foundation they want with the practical benefits of a freshly refurbished shooter.
A January 2025 CBI commercial replacement barrel is installed and is marked accordingly beneath the handguards. The attached armorer tag identifies the rifle as an Expert Grade-style build and records outstanding muzzle and throat readings of 0+, indicating an essentially new barrel. Combined with the robust Garand gas system and post-war T105 rear sight assembly, this rifle is set up to deliver the accuracy and reliability modern shooters expect.
The rifle wears an attractive CMP walnut stock set bearing the CMP cartouche on the right side of the buttstock. The bolt is marked D28287-19SA / B-19, a Springfield component and no arsenal rebuild stamps are present. The overall presentation reflects a professionally rebuilt Garand intended for both range use and collection.
Adopted by the U.S. military in 1936, the M1 Garand became one of the defining battle rifles of World War II and Korea. General George S. Patton famously described it as “the greatest battle implement ever devised.” Springfield Armory produced the majority of wartime Garands, and January 1943 production falls within one of the most significant periods of American arms manufacturing during the war effort.
For collectors seeking a true WWII Springfield receiver without sacrificing shootability, this rifle hits a sweet spot. The combination of authentic wartime heritage, CMP-style refurbishment, excellent gauge readings, fresh 2025 barrel, and beautiful CMP walnut furniture creates a Garand that is equally at home in a collection, on the firing line, or proudly displayed in any serious U.S. military rifle lineup.
