This weapon is the most important one in U.S history. It brought us to the front lines against the high power 8mm Mauser and 7.7x58 Arisaka. Although plagued with a design flaw that led many to lose their lives. It gave others the upper hand in combat. The weapon of discussion is of course the M1 Garand. This Springfield Armory M1 was born on February 15th 1945. Barrel, bolt, trigger, and all small parts bear the SA abbreviation. All serialized parts though not matching numbers, did not have to be. All parts with the exception of the trigger group were produced in 1945, with the trigger being produced in 1943. This is due to a design change that had not been completely established so older parts were use until completely phased out. No arsenal reproduction parts have been put on this gun, a common sight in Garand rifles these days. Import marks on the barrel state Excel in Gardner Massachusetts imported the rifle back into the country after its trip overseas. The stock still bears original proofmarks on the pistol grip, lacking only the crossed cannons mark on the side of the stock. Parkerizing is in excellent shape with signs of age but no rust and no signs of refinishing. Inside the buttplate is the original cleaning kit in its entirety. Action locks up tight and has been checked for proper headspacing. We do not test fire our firearms but we check them for mechanical function. Trigger, firing pin, ejector, follower, and bolt all work flawlessly launching en-blocs 3 feet into the air creating the unforgettable ping. Bore is bright and rifling is strong. Wood is cracked in one place in front of the sling mount toward the rear of the stock but only on the surface. The gun comes with 18 en-blocs in an original GI ammo can, as well as a leather sling and USMC carry bag. There are shooter Garand rifles and there are collectors, this is an investment grade collector that is valued between $4200-$4500. Which you can own for $1,000 less. Garand rifles are getting more and more valuable each day with examples reaching $8000 or more in certain configurations. Here at Firearms Unlimited LLC we specialize in out the ordinary and impossible to find firearms, this is no exception to that.
