H&R M1 Garand Model D chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Most of these rifles were produced by converting standard M1 Garand rifles into a M1D by installing a special M1D Sniper barrel manufactured at Springfield Armory. These barrels were manufactured from approximately Jan 1952 to Feb 1953 with the conversion done by Springfield Armory. This M1 Garand has a 24" barrel, blade front sight with protective sides, adjustable aperture rear sight. It also has an M84 sniper scope that has the correct identification plate marked: 'TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 32555' and it has the correct original GI M1D sniper mount and the rubber eye protector. The barrel is stamped "S-A-4-52". Other marked parts; NRA bolt "5528287-HRA .U.", HRA trigger group housing "5528290-HRA N", safety "HRA", hammer "SA 5546008", op rod has no markings. The gas cylinder is a wide base with a bevel lock and a "P" marked gas cylinder lock screw. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip with the circle P stamp and DOD acceptance stamp.
