Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Springfield U.S. M1D Garand Sniper Rifle, with the receiver manufactured in 1939 at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This is an early rifle that was later upgraded by the armory to a sniper rifle circa 1952, during the Korean War. It features an M84 rifle scope with an offset mount to facilitate loading and ejection. The 2-52 dated leather cheekpiece places the shooter’s face behind the scope. The barrel is from Springfield Armory and is dated to February of 1952, and has the integrated scope mount barrel used in these conversions. The stock has the SA/JLG cartouche and two circle Ps on the pistol grip.

The overall condition is fine. Excellent action. The bore is shiny bright with strong rifling. Tight bore. Fine stock. Optics are clear. This is a very nice rifle with a pre-World War II serial number, upgraded to the sniper version during Korea!
