Springfield Armory M1 Garand 1944 with 1955 Barrel

Springfield Armory M1 Garand, serial number 29007xx, manufactured June 1944. This M1 is a LEAD rebuild (Letterkenny 1965) with a SA barrel dated March 1953 with a bright bore and excellent gauge measurements. Most other marked parts are Springfield, all are detailed below and shown in photos. No import marks. This rifle is in very good used condition.
We test fired this Garand and it performed well, cycling through a clip and ejecting the clip at the end.
Sling, two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) and a canvas bandolier are included.

Springfield Armory M1 sn 29007xx Specs:
- Receiver: marked “D 28291 32” on leg, heat lot 072A, also hand engraved “LEAD 10-65” on leg, indicating Letterkenny rebuild. Excellent condition, new finish with no wear.
- Barrel: marked “SA D6535448 3 53 A189A” with crossed cannons in op rod slot. Bore is bright, crown and rifling excellent.
- Barrel Gauge Measurements: MW(muzzle wear): 1, TE (throat erosion): 3
- Clip latch: late square front type, unmarked
- Op rod: flat side, marked “D35382 SA”. Excellent condition, no pitting, finish shows very little wear. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).
- Op rod catch: late type, unmarked
- Bullet guide: milled WWII type, has hammer forge mark “44 S’
- Follower: late type, unmarked
- Follower arm: no bevel
- Follower rod: long fork, riveted
- Bolt: marked “6528287-SA Y01”
- Rear sight base: late SA type, unmarked
- Sight knobs: T-105 postwar type, elevation marked “NHC”, windage marked “DRC”
- Rear sight cover: late type with ribs
- Rear sight aperture: double track, unmarked
- Trigger housing: marked “6528290 IHC E” Small pad, cloverleaf hole, no pitting.
- Trigger guard: stamped with stamped hook
- Trigger: late type, no extra hole
- Hammer: marked “SA D5546008”
- Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings
- Safety: round top, marked “C46015-9SA”
- Gas cylinder: narrow sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group finish very good
- Front sight: 0.65 wide, unmarked.
- Gas cylinder lock: beveled front type, unmarked
- Gas cylinder screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked “P” and hexagon
- Stock: walnut, probably arsenal replacement, circled “P” on pistol grip, faint “RIA” in box on left side, paint marked “27” on comb, stamped “27” with flaming bomb just behind receiver, and “SV27” near buttplate on right side. No cracks, about average dings/scratches
- Handguards: walnut, no cracks, same condition as stock
- Buttplate: flat plunger, good condition with finish wear
- Sling: used, common postwar type
