WW2 Springfield Armory M1 Garand, serial number 31044xx, manufactured August 1944. Barrel is Springfield, dated June 1945 with a mint bore. Other marked parts are Springfield, described below and shown in pictures. No import marks.
This M1 is a Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) 1966 rebuild, marked on the receiver and stock. After WWII the government contracted the rebuilding of many M1 rifles at various facilities including LEAD. Any worn parts were replaced, and all metal was refinished. The rifles were then kept in reserve, and many were never used.
This Garand has been test fired and performed perfectly, cycling through a full clip, ejecting the clip at the end.
Two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo),sling and a new repro canvas carry case are all included.
Specs:
Receiver: marked “D 28291 3” on leg, heat lot B29C, hand engraved “LEAD 5-66”. Excellent condition, no pitting. Gray LEAD finish with little wear.
Barrel: marked “1-S-A6-45”in op rod slot, “D35448-35-Y-215-1” on top, with small crossed cannons stamp. Bore is bright like new, exc crown and rifling.

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring.
Front sight: 0.85 wide
Gas cylinder lock: beveled front WWII type, unmarked
Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type, marked “P” with crescent moon
Stock: birch, arsenal replacement, orange LEAD triangle on pistol grip, also uncircled “P”. No cracks or repairs, very few minor dents, great appearance.
Handguards: walnut, very good color match to stock considering difference in wood type. Front HG has a small crack – as it’s at the ferrule end, not likely to go anywhere or hurt anything.

-Used Firearms: 3 day inspection policy. Item may be returned if in same condition as when it left our facility. Returns are subject to a $35.00 restocking fee. Buyer is responsible for return shipping charges (must include insurance and signature requirement) and any transfer fees.
