Description:
US WINCHESTER M-1 GARAND 7.62 NATO CONVERSION. Bbl. 24" marked on right side with "7.62 NATO and WP". Rifle was converted from 30-06 to 7.62 NATO by installing a bushing in the chamber. The chamber was given a fine shallow thread in an attempt by the arsenal to retain the bushing. The receiver retains its original markings but has the white plastic spacer installed. Locking bar rear sight w/ "battle range" elevation knob. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings except receiver are "SA".Walnut stock set. Buttstock markings are obscure but appear to be boxed "SA/NFR crossed cannons". Two encircled "P" proofs under and at end of grip. Butt has white painted markings on both sides "A/1-159/102". CONDITION: stock set has an early arsenal rework finish with the worn painted markings added later. Stock set has moderate wear and handling marks. Metal retains 50% of its original finish with wear and areas of fine pitting. The receiver has a partial coating of a varnish like finish. 7.62 Nato
