Rifle has no British markings but is an excellent example of the silver work seen on discarded European weapons and taken by Afghans and outfitted in their style. This is a superior example with finely decorated silver wire at the wrist and silver embossed barrel bands. Barrel length is approximately 31.5"" and 48"" overall. Bore has very strong rifling. Action works properly. Possibly one of the most interesting thing that goes with this rifle is a bandolier of .577-450 cartridges of the period. The bandolier is a real piece of native handicraft and somewhat miraculous that it is still intact! Overall an ensemble very hard to duplicate. Whoever buys this really neat outfit should, in our opinion, leave the bandolier intact as it is. We feel that removal of the cartridges may damage the leather and fabric.
