This British No. 1 Mk III* grenade launcher rifle was manufactured in 1943 by the Royal Arms Factory Ishapore, India. These rifles are easily identified by the wire wrap on the foream which helped strengthen the stock for grenade launching duties. They use a cup launcher attached to the muzzle. The .303 British caliber barrel has a very fine bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 95% of its dark wartime finish. The serial numbers on the front band, receiver, and bolt match. The left side of the receiver is import marked and the rear receiver ring has the crown over G.T.I. over 1943 over No.1.Mk,III*. The stocks are very good with issue dents and dings but no major problems. The sling swivels are present. The action functions correctly. The cup launchers are readily available. This basic British WWII weapon is a must for any Allied WWII collection.
