WORLD WAR II Soviet IZHEVSK ARSENAL Mosin-Nagant M91/30 C&R Rifle 1938 Dated Russian Military Bolt Action INFANTRY RIFLE Here we present a C&R Soviet Russia Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 Rifle, made circa 1938 at the Izhevsk Arsenal with a production run between 1891 and 1973 and most certainly saw action in World War II. This rifle is a 1930 variant of the original Model 1891. Faced with a growing demand for firearms for Russia’s armed forces in the early 19th century, Tsar Alexander I ordered the construction of a large rifle plant 750 miles east of Moscow, in the forests along the Izh river. Over the years, an entire city sprang up around the arms factory, which in time was to become known as the Izhevsk Arsenal and the home of the world-famous Kalashnikov rifle. It is one of the most mass-produced military bolt-action rifles in history with over 37 million units having been made since its inception in 1891, and, in spite of its age, it has been used in various conflicts around the world up to the present day. This specimen is dated “1938” and marked with numerous inspection marks. It is chambered in the 7.62x54R cartridge, with a magazine capacity of 5. The overall condition is good. Dim bore, retains some shimmer. Most metal components have been refinished. The refinished stock shows average handling wear and remnants of cartouches are on the buttstock. Legible markings.
