Danish Model 1867/96 Rolling Block Rifle
Description: Serial #53150, 11.35mm CF, 35 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an armory conversion of an original rimfire rifle to centerfire, and has an overall mottled gray-brown patina with scattered minor freckling and handling marks along the exposed metal, as well as areas of light pitting where the metal meets the wood. The walnut stock is numbered to the gun and the wood has numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes under the thick added varnish, but the unit ID plaque is still in place on the right side of the butt: “JR/309". The rifle comes with a correct metal ramrod, and is mechanically excellent, however the rear sight slider has been bent on the volley sight side. These Danish Rolling Blocks are high quality, well-made rifles, and this example rates good-very good overall.
