EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II Era PACIFIC THEATER Nagoya Type 38 C&R CARBINE Arisaka by the Nagoya Arsenal Circa 1937
Description: EMPIRE of JAPAN World War II Era PACIFIC THEATER Nagoya Type 38 C&R CARBINE Arisaka by the Nagoya Arsenal Circa 1937 Here we present a C&R Japanese Nagoya Type 38 Infantry Carbine, made circa 1937 at the Nagoya arsenal. The Type 38 carbine and rifle were bolt-action service rifles used by the Empire of Japan predominantly during the Second Sino-Japanese War and Second World War. The design was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905 (the 38th year of the Meiji period, hence "Type 38"). Because the 6.5×50mmSR Arisaka cartridge it fired was considered underpowered, a replacement was devised, which was the Type 99 rifle, but both rifles saw usage until the end of the war. This rifle was an upgrade to the Type 30. This design was the project of Major Nambu, famed and prolific firearms designer in Japan. The Type 38 has been called the best service rifle of WWI. The design was perfected with the advent of the Type 99, nevertheless, the Type 38 saw plenty of action during World War I and World War II. Intended for use by cavalry, engineers, quartermasters and other non-frontline troops, the Type 38 carbine was introduced into service at the same time as the standard Type 38 rifle. The Type 38 carbine was produced at four different Japanese arsenals with approximately 517,800 manufactured over the production run between 1906 through 1944. The Tokyo Arsenal produced 210,000 between 1906 and 1931. The Kokura Arsenal produced 49,500 between 1938 and 1941. The Nagoya Arsenal produced 206,000 between 1935 and 1942. The Hoten/Mukden Arsenal produced 52,300 between 1938 and 1944. The overall condition is good. Robust action. Bright bore. There is a dark ring towards the muzzle end, but does not appear to be a bulge. Solid stock with less than average wear. Clear markings. The Mum on this example is partially ground. Numbers on the bolt and receiver match. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 19 inches. Caliber: 6.5x50mm Japanese Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
