Italian M1891/24 Carcano Carbine w/ 1960s US Army Registration

Description:
Serial #NG 3173, 6.5mm Carcano, 18" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves at the muzzle. This is a Terni-made, 1915-dated carbine with standard Model 1891 bayonet mounts, and 1500 meter carbine rear sight. The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue finish, with some fading along the high edges and projections, as well as some mild fading to plum-brown in some areas, especially along the sides of the magazine well / trigger guard housing. The bolt is correct, but numbered to a different gun, and has a dark patina along the body, with plum-brown on the handle. The stock and handguard have numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered throughout the old military oil finish, with some stable drying cracks at the metal buttplate. Included with the carbine is an August 26, 1963-dated SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) firearms registration certificate issued by the Provost Marshal, Paris to a Sp/5 in the US Army, listing the carbine by serial number. This is a good-very good Italian Carcano that probably saw service in both World Wars, and has a rarely seen US Army-issued certificate. FFL or C&R;
