Schmidt-Rubin ~ G 1911 ~ 7.5x55 Swiss
Description: The Schmidt Rubin Model 1911 was the next evolution in Swiss military small arms developments. The rifle is seen as an improvement over the previous Model 1889 service rifle. Waffenfabrik changed the location of the locking lugs. They moved them into the middle of the bolt rather than at the rear; which strengthened the action of the rifle allocating for more powerful and modernized cartridges to fit the needs of the Swiss military. This rifle uses the Gewehrpatrone 11 commonly known as the GP11 round. This round was updated to be completely non-corrosive and increase accuracy at longer distances. The round was kept in service until the 1990s deeming the Schmidt-Rubin Model 1911 to be a revolutionary advancement for the Swiss. The Model 1911 features a 30.7" barrel with a 1 in 9 twist rate. The rifle utilizes a 6 round detachable magazine that utilizes the 7.5×55 Swiss cartridge. This rifle is a symbol of the Swiss neutrality throughout the First World War, and because the Swiss remained neutral throughout the war this also means these rifles are in much better condition than other European WWI service rifles, making it a very prestigious piece of small arms history that can be passed on and appreciated for generations. The Model 1911 for sale here is in very good condition with a nice walnut stock, clean metal, and even has a "troop tag" under the buttstock. It does not have any import marks. 7.5x55 Swiss SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Metal Condition: Very good Wood Condition: Very good Bore Condition: Excellent Barrels: 30.7 Stock Dimensions: 13¼" length of pull Butt Pad: Steel butt pad Weight: 10 Lbs Sights: "Graduated tangent sight from 300 to 2,000 meters Item Location: Boise, ID |
