Swedish Model 1867/89 Rolling Block Rife 8mm Krag
Description: Serial #728-2944/91, 8mm Krag, 35 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a Carl Gustav armory conversion 1870-made rifle from the earlier 12.17 x 44mm blackpowder cartridge to smaller caliber smokeless, and is marked on the right side of the barrel breech with the conversion serial number and year "2844/91." The barrel has retained about 92-95% of the original blue finish with some gray fading at the muzzle, as well as silvering along the edges of the barrel facets on the octagonal breech. The frame has an overall armory bright finish that has mild freckling on some areas, with the barrel having a darker freckled gray-brown patina along its length. All numbers are matching, including the newer smokeless breechblock, hammer, forend, and buttstock. The birch forend and buttstock have minor handling marks and small surface blemishes scattered about the fairly thick added varnish. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. The rifle comes with an original cleaning rod, and this is a fine example of an arsenal-converted Swedish Rolling Block overall.
