Beautiful example of a Winchester P14 Enfield Mk1 Rifle with Volley Sights (the * reflecting some form of stock modification), caliber .303 British, with a Winchester-marked bayonet. Front sight is a drift adjustable post between two protective ears with knurled upper surfaces. Aperture battle/ladder rear sight, set between 2 protective ears, the ladder marked 2-16. Volley sights, mounted on the left side of stock and left side of receiver, are intact. Top of chamber with an encircled five-pointed star, the serial number "W139672" on the right side and on the matching bolt handle. Left side of receiver with with British proof marks and a large "S" just above two broad arrow stamps (crows feet) facing each other, reflecting decommission after military use. Scattered small "W" and star inspections. Stock with scattered proofs under pistol grip. Right side of buttstock with an unmarked brass disc, the adjacent wood stamped "PATT. 14" below an encircled "IW" and Star proof mark. Smooth metal trap door buttplate. Complete with a Winchester-made bayonet, the ricasso with an encircled "W", walnut scales cut with two grooves, and a green leather scabbard with green-painted metal tip and throat/hanger.
Condition:
VG+ original condition with sharp edge wear and thinning in usual locations as befitting a service rifle that has seen moderate use. The same concerns apply to the magazine floorplate and trigger guard. Original finish stock with a scattering of handling marks and superficial bruises. Etched bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. EXC original finish bayonet, the blade with negligible wear, with comparable condition scabbard.
