WW1 Enfield P-14 (Pattern 14) Rifle by ERA in .303 British w/ Remington P13 Bayonet & Scabbard SALE PENDING
Description: We do not come across these Pattern 14 Enfields very often, and when we do they are usually not in such nice condition. This P-14 Enfield was made by Eddystone Remington Arms, a subsidiary set up by Remington to specifically make the P-14 rifle for the British Military. The .303 caliber P-14 proved a great front-line battle rifle and very accurate, so much so that it was the primary rifle used in WW1 British sniping rifles. The P-14 bolt action rifle holds 6 rounds of .303 ammo in it's internal box magazine, and has an exceptionally smooth and strong action. After serving with distinction during "The Great War" the P-14 was again called to action to arm the British Army for WW2. The British Military took the P-14's in inventory and updated them to the "Weeden Repair Standard", which consisted of removing the "volley" sights and repairing or replacing anything that needed attention. This was performed at the Weedon Royal Ordnance Depot or various commercially contracted companies located elsewhere in the country. Initially, the P-14 was primarily issued to rear-guard troops at the beginning of WW2, but after the Dunkirk disaster and the massive loss of arms that resulted from it, the P-14 Enfield was once again on front line duty as an infantry weapon and as a sniper rifle. This ERA example is serial number 12204, and appears to be all-original gun that was updated to the "Weedon Repair Standard" for use in WW2. It has the original "stove black" paint finish intact, favored by the Brits on many of their military weapons. The bore is excellent, the rifling still looks very strong and there is no bulges or pitting. The bolt is in great shape and works smoothly and locks up tight. It is numbered to the gun on the underside of the bolt handle. The original stock is in great shape, free from any cracks or major damage. The stock shows only some handling marks typical of a battle rifle, and an arsenal repair at the top of the butt under the tang of the steel buttplate. All of the controls work 100% as they were designed to. This P-14 comes with an original WW2 issue British sling and an original P13 model "sword" bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet is a nice Remington-made example in good original condition, and comes with the proper steel and leather British pattern scabbard which is dated 1929. This is really a cool British military rifle with a lot of history and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
