This excellent early Springfield Model of 1922 M2 has a barrel date of 12 - 33. The 22 Long Rifle barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun retains approx. 96% of its original parkerized finish. The headspace adjustable bolt is marked M2. The front sight has a protective cover and the rear Lyman 48 sight has its screw in peep disc. The magazine is marked M2. The floor plate forward screw hole is enlarged but functions correctly. The receiver is marked U.S. over SPRINGFIELD overe ARMORY over CAL. .22 M2 over 2774. The left side of the barrel at the chamber is marked LONG RIFLE over CTGE ONLY. The finger groove stock is excellent There are no inspection stamps on it which indicates that the rifle has not been rebuilt. The sling swivels are present. The action functions correctly. These fine rifles were used extensively for training during WWII. The M2 is a must for any military 22 caliber training rifle collection or for a WWII collection.
