This 30 Army caliber (30-40 Krag) U.S. Model 1898 rifle is a fine condition example. The 30"" barrel has a bright bore with strong rifling and with evidence of firing. The barrel has approx. 97% original blue. The receiver has most of its dark oil-quenched finish and the loading gate is a mottled 92% blue. The bands, trigger guard and buttplate have the majority of their blue finish turning brown. The rifle is equipped with an excellent Model 1902 rear sight with the correct handguard. The stock is fine with an excellent JLA 1900 final inspection sstamp and strong circle P firing proof. It has light issue and storage dents and dings but no chips or cracks. The rifle is equipped with a very good Model 1887 sling which was used on both the trapdoor Springfield rifle and the Krag rifle. The action functions correctly. Many Krag collections are missing examples with the Model 1902 sight. Don't miss this one!
