1943/44 Inland M1 Carbine (2nd Block Production) in .30 Carbine
** Korean War Arsenal Rebuild ** SOLD
Description: This is nice early 2nd block production World War 2 Inland M1 Carbine built sometime between September of 1943 and mid-1944. It was likely turned in after the war ended and was rebuilt before service in the Korean War, after which it ended up in civilian hands either thru the soldier that was issued it taking it home with them, or CMP sales. This Inland still has the original barrel, trigger housing, and high-wood stock but most of the small parts were exchanged/upgraded to the later parts during the arsenal rebuild. The barrel is stamped with "Inland Mfg Div General Motors 7-43", which is the proper markings for the original barrel. The barrel band, bolt, handguard, safety, mag release, operating handle, sights, and several other small parts were changed and the gun was re-parkerized by the arsenal. Interestingly enough, despite the rebuild the stock was not converted to the low-wood configuration. The stock still shows a faint Inland crossed cannons cartouche on the right side as well at the "I.O." stamp in the sling well. The pistol grip is marked with the original factory circle "P" inspection cartouche on the bottom of the grip as well as the arsenal rebuild "P" on the face of the grip. The bore in this Inland is excellent, bright with no pitting whatsoever and strong, sharp rifling. All of the controls and the action on this M1 Carbine are in perfect working order. The bolt works smoothly and goes into battery with authority. If you have been looking for a nice representative WW2/Korea M1 Carbine that you can enjoy in your collection at the range, this Inland would be a superb choice.
