Attractive Smith-Corona Model 03-A3 military rifle with correct bolt, cal .30-06, barrel dated 1943, later reworked by the Rock Island Arsenal.
Description:
Standard configuration Smith-Corona 1903-A3 rifle, chambered in .30-06., bladed front sight on serrated ramp and ramped height-adjustable aperture rear sight. Top of the receiver is marked "U.S./SMITH-CORONA/MODEL 03-A3/4801927". The top of the barrel is marked "S C" above the Ordnance 'Flaming Bomb' and the date "9-43". The bolt is stamped "B&S/’Flaming Bomb’" on the top of the handle. The oil-finished, straight grip walnut stock is stamped with a single, encircled, "P" behind the trigger guard and a boxed “RIA/FK3” and “FJA” are on the left side below the magazine feed lever. Checkered trapdoor buttplate is unmarked. Complete with greensling.
Condition:
VG as reworked, the majority of wear now involving the trigger guard and floorplate. Oil darkened stock with scattered handling marks and a few more recent gouges near the toe. EXC sling. Bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. An attractive standard issue Smith-Corona bolt action from WWII that was later reworked by Rock Island Arsenal.
