Description:
The M1 Carbine was developed as a lightweight, compact shoulder arm intended to supplement the standard infantry rifle, offering reduced weight and improved handling for support troops. This Model of 1943 was manufactured by Inland Division during World War II production, SN: 565547. The receiver is marked “U.S. CARBINE CAL. 30 M1” at the front and “INLAND DIV.” over the serial number at the rear. The barrel is marked INLAND MFG. DIV. / GENERAL MOTORS, dated "7-43", and "P" proofed. BI subcontractor markings. Fitted with a flip-adjustable rear sight whose housing is marked "S' on the left side and a matching flat blued bolt. Barrel band has "3-oval" impressions, the trigger housing with the Inland logo, and the hammer with an "H" (cannot see HI). High wood, ordnance marked stock with oval oiler cut is proof-marked with a circled “P” under the grip, the subcontractor "OI" inside the two rivet handguard and inside the sling slot on the left side. Unmarked buttplate with square checkering pattern. Complete with sling, oiler, and 30-shot detachable magazine marked "MN" on spine.
Condition:
VG+ thin parkerizing on the barreled action with flecked patches of light oxidation and congealed grease. "P" proof cutting through parkerizing. Comparable condition trigger housing. Oiled darkened stock with lightly stamped ordnance logo and scattered superficial handling marks. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
