M1 Carbine INLAND Very Early #287179
Description: It isn't often you find an M1 Carbine that is in this condition. This rifle has all of the correct metal parts, stock and hand guard, magazine pouch, sling, and carry case. I have totally disassembled this rifle to first insure integrity. Then I documented that every single part matches the specification per the USGI Ordnance Department based upon the rifle serial number, date of manufacture, part type, Inland part identification stamping, measurements, and photo and text identification; using Roger Larson's book " M1 Carbine - Comprehensive Guide" as my reference. Some "Experts" subjectively debate that using one reference for verification of these rifles lends itself to inaccuracy, but I feel that consistency in what I do simplifies and reduces the chance for making mistakes. I rely on facts not opinions when evaluating a rifle. About this Inland M1 Carbine. Serial number 287179 was produced in the first production block of M1 Carbines 712,821 before any other manufacturers began M1 Carbine production. This rifle has no import markings or rebuild stampings under the chamber, only manufacturer proof marks. The barrel is stamped 2 -43 with the production taking place a short time thereafter. As evidenced by the photo of the chamber and bore there is very little wear. The moving metal parts that make contact such as the operating slide, bolt, hammer, extractor, etc. show little wear; a sign of good maintenance. The color of the metal parts matches very well throughout for a rifle this age. No rust or pitting is evident. The stock is an Oval I-Cut dark walnut with the signature Inland large cross cannons cartouche on the right butt stock and IO stamped in the sling well and underside of the hand guard. It started out as a high wood stock but was trimmed to a low wood likely due to the thin wood next to the slide which easily cracked. There are no cracks and only one small dent in the wood on the underside next to the trigger guard. Not only is this rifle 100% correct but the Sling, Oiler (stamped II), dual Magazine Pouch with two UI stamped type 1 Inland 15 round magazines, and Zippered Canvass Carry Case are WWII correct; NOT REPRODUCTIONS. These are expensive and hard to find items. Take a look at the pictures. I have available the data sheets that document all of the parts to this rifle being 100% correct. If you are seriously interested in checking it out before making a buying decision I have 208 photos of it as well that I can email as many as you would like to you. This rifle is close to original as you will find. Not all the parts are what it left the Inland factory with but any that were replaced were done so with correct USGI Ordnance Department Inland specified parts; NOT REPRODUCTIONS. This rifle is being sold in compliance with all state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations. I will ship it to you insured for the purchase price FREE to a currently valid FFL of your choice within the 48 contiguous states. Although this rifle is fully functional it is being sold with no expressed or implied warranties. NO TRADES considered. Accepted method of payment is USPS Money Orders or Bank verified funds.
