REMINGTON ARM CO. M11-48 Semi-Automatic 410 Bore HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R
First of Remington’s “NEW GENERATION” of Semi-Autos
Description: REMINGTON ARM CO. M11-48 Semi-Automatic 410 Bore HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R First of Remington’s “NEW GENERATION” of Semi-Autos Here we present a C&R Remington Model 11-48 410 Bore Semi-Automatic Shotgun, manufactured in Ilion, New York. In the post-World War II years, Remington reintroduced the Model 11 in a more refined form and gave it the designation as the Model 11-48 of 1949. The Remington Model 11-48 is a popular shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms as the first of its "new generation" semi-automatics produced after World War II. Released as the replacement for the Remington Model 11, it was manufactured from 1949 to 1968 and was produced in 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge and 410 bore variations. The Model 11-48 410 bore shotgun is particularly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts due to its rarity and the fact that it was the only .410 bore semi-automatic shotgun available at the time. Its unique design and functionality have made it a valuable addition to any shotgun collection. The 410 bore shotgun, often touted as a “beginner’s gun” because of its attractiveness to young shooters, is usually lightweight with thin patterns and doesn’t deliver a big charge which could potentially scare away a young shooter. The origins of the 410 go back to the end of the nineteenth century, when farmers shot birds and small game to feed their families. There wasn’t any wing shooting involved here, just pop them wherever they were and take ‘em home for mom to cook. 1-1/2 inch comb drop. 2 ½ heel drop. The overall condition is good. Original finishes. The stock is re-varnished with deep checkering on the forend and wrist. Minor scuffs and dings on the stock and forend throughout. “322-14-0991” is hand-inscribed on the left receiver flat. The markings are crisp and legible. Rubber buttplate. Strong action. The bore is bright and smooth. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 25 inches. Caliber: 410 Bore Chambers: 3 inch Choke: Modified LOP: 14-3/4 inches.
