SPRINGFIELD 1899 KRAG CARBINE
Description: SPRINGFIELD 1899 KRAG CARBINE. A really nice example with serial number in the 358XXX range that has the original humped handguard that was only used on the 1899 Carbine. This was the last carbine made for the U.S. Military. Fine stock shows a little fancy grain hidden under 120 years of grime. Light but fully readable 1900 dated cartouche in the left side of the stock along with the circle P proof behind the trigger guard. Has the correct 1901 "lever" rear sight that is "C" marked for carbine- the lever is intact and should secure the windage in place, but seems to have a small part either missing or broken that does the locking. The front sight has the correct sight protector hood often seen on this model. Stock and hand guard generally fine showing only normal handling marks and light dings. Wood appears to have never been sanded or even cleaned. One tiny hole in the bottom of the stock that seems too small in diameter to be from a sling swivel stud, and may have been where an identification plate for rack number may have been installed at one time- fairly common- minor and hardly noticeable. Most of the barrel blue is intact and showing light age only. Mottled gray receiver and trigger guard. Tight action with excellent sharp bore. All Krags are becoming scarce with the carbines particularly so. Price: $1,895.00 Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30-40 Krag Manufacturer: SPRINGFIELD Model: 1899 KRAG CARBINE Serial Number: 358XXX Barrel Length: 22 Condition: FINE Bore Condition: EXCELLENT Contact Seller |
