***SOLD***Hungarian
FÉG Mosin M44 Bolt Action Carbine Chambered in 7.62x54R Caliber **Mfg 1953 - Has Budapest Hungary Markings**
Description: ****SOLD**** After the end of WW2 Hungary was limited to a 25,000 member military. One of the few firearms the Hungarian military was allowed to have was this FÉG Mosin M44 bolt action carbine known as 48.4 M or 48 Minta inside Hungary. By 1948 Hungary was pressured through the Warsaw Pact to purchase the license from the Soviet Union for the manufacture of Mosin Nagant and other Soviet weapons. Production seems to have been confined to good-quality copies of the Soviet Model 1944 carbine by Fémáru Fegyver és Gépgyár (FÉG). Hungary's Warsaw Pact given factory marking of "02" can be found stamped on most parts of the rifle. The stocks are made of beech and are characterized by excellent workmanship. The finish is a standard military oil type with low sheen. The buttstock is marked with the '02' country code and with 'B' in a circle for Budapest. The top of the barrel chamber is stamped with the Communist Hungarian symbol ('Rákosi Crest'): a crossed hammer and stalk of wheat. A permanently mounted socket type Folding Spike Bayonet is fitted at the muzzle. The carbine is in very good overall condition with some high edge wear, muzzle wear and some handling marks. The bolt action is smooth and solid. The 20.4" barrel has a frosty bore with decent rifling and CIA import mark on the left side at the muzzle. The stock is very clean and in awesome shape having the correct "02" and "B" markings. Though not all matchine numbers it is a very good example of a Hungarian Mosin M44 carbine and a great addition to a collection of Warsaw pact firearms.
