Hungarian FÉG Model 48.M bolt-action Sniper rifle dated 1953, SN: BC4542, caliber 7.62x54R, with 28.74-inch barrel, matching with matching scope mount and closely dated PE-style scope. Hooded post front sight and tangent rear sight graduated from 1-20. Crest of receiver with manufacturer code "02" / "1953" / and SN: "BC4542", the serial number repeated on the right side of the bolt, under the magazine housing, and on the buttplate. Manufacturer code "02" on most parts including the nosecap, front barrel band, tangent sight base, the left side of the scope mount, the extractor, bolt body and safety, the forward trigger guard extension, the right side of the buttstock, and the buttplate. A scattering of small, lettered inspector markings. The top of the scope is marked "41" dated "1952" with assembly number "0205" and SN: "513689", optic showing a central pointed post bracketed by two horizontal bars. Smooth handguard and finger groove hardwood stock, blued cleaning rod, with paired fixtures for the included leather and canvas sling. No Import Marks!
Condition:
Excellent condition as arsenal refurbished, showing relatively little use/handling since the refurbishment, barrel shank/receiver markings crisp, as are the markings on the scope mount, under the magazine and on the trigger guard. Stock with oil darkening, a few superficial handling marks, and a scattering of light bruises. Optics slightly hazy with very crisp reticle. Leather/canvas sling in near unissued condition. Etched bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
