An extremely attractive, all-matching early Mosin-Nagant M91 Russian Dragoon rifle with octagonal receiver dated 1922, no import marks, with brass reinforced handguard, correct bayonet and early metal scabbard. Very difficult to find such an early gun in this condition!
Description:
Standard configuration Izhevsk 1891 Dragoon Rifle with 29" barrel, made 1922, cal 7.62x54mmR, with drift adjustable blade front sight and tangent rear sight with base graded 4-12 and the ladder graded 13-32. The barrel shank is marked with hammer/sickle within wreath/ 2-line Russian address/ / 1922r./60051 and the pre-1928 Izhevsk logo (a bow and arrow). The top of the octagonal receiver is marked with matching hammer/sickle within wreath . The bolt, trigger guard/magazine floorplate/ buttplate are Izhevsk accepted and serial matched. There is a faded cartouche on the right side of the butt that is stamped with a large "3". The handguard has front/rear brass reinforcements. Barrel bands have Izhevsk acceptances. Unnumbered in-the-white cleaning rod with an arsenal marking. NOT IMPORT MARKED. Complete with non-matching but original Izhevsk cruciform accepted bayonet, numbered 699521/194398, and metal scabbard.
Condition:
Near EXC as an old, barely discernible, rust blue arsenal rework, metal only, as the handguard and stock are in similar but original condition. Sling swivels are easily removed replacements. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. VG bayonet and metal scabbard with handling marks and a scattering of superficial dents.
